We, the Idriss Mosque Board of Trustees believe transparency of our actions and collaboration with the Islamic Center of Washington regarding decision making for operations, management, education and activities of Idriss Mosque support a process of best practices and the advancing of progressive and healthy growth and development for and within the Seattle Islamic community.
We strive to ensure equal and fair opportunities for all Muslims, Muslim families, individuals, children and mosque visitors by fulfilling our oaths and the mandate entrusted upon us, by the Idriss family, on behalf of the late Sheikh Abdul Kadir Idriss.
Idriss Mosque Board members are appointed to lifetime terms. Each member has committed to faithfully discharge their duties first to Allah, then to their official responsibilities that they have accepted, in accordance with the Trust Document to the best of their ability.

Trustee - Adnan Bakkar
Adnan Bakkar is a founding member of the Idriss Mosque Board of Trustees, having given continuous service to the Board since its inception in 1981. Originally from Syria, Brother Adnan is the person who was first approached by the family of Sheikh Abdul Kadir Idriss with the idea of building a mosque in Seattle. Coordination between Brother Adnan, the Idriss family, and the community resulted in the building of the Idriss Mosque, which serves thousands of worshippers and visitors every year. He is a member of the original architectural team that designed the Idriss Mosque as the first mosque west of the Mississippi with an Arabesque design. It was Brother Adnan's voice that recited the words of the Holy Quran for the dedication of the Idriss Mosque. Retired after 30 years as a design engineer for the Boeing Company, Adnan Bakkar lives in Lynnwood, Washington.
Trustee - Hisham Farajallah
Hisham Farajallah joined the Board in 1998. Brother Hisham serves as a leader to the Board as well as acting as the Board’s legal representative on behalf of Idriss Mosque. He is also President of the Islamic Center of Washington. Brother Hisham holds a graduate degree from Washington State University and is originally from Palestine. His work with the Board is instrumental in maintaining positive relationships and perceptions of Islam within the public. He also serves the Board as a member of the Seattle Puget Sound interfaith community. His work is dedicated to maintaining the sanctity of Idriss Mosque and ensuring the freedom, education and safety of mosque worshippers and visitors. He has been instrumental in Idriss Mosque being renowned, as the flagship of Islamic organizations, within Seattle and the Puget Sound Region. Brother Hisham has also been instrumental in establishing committees amongst diverse Muslim communities to enhance Islamic unity. Brother Hisham, an engineer by profession, lives in Seattle, Washington.
Trustee - Kausar Talat
Kausar Talat has been a member of the Puget Sound Muslim Community since 1981 and was active, in coordinating community activities, for the Sea-Tac Islamic Center. He has been an Idriss Mosque Board member since 2005. Brother Kausar, as Board secretary leads and guides the Board’s work and is committed to the development of strong community relationships. He is an engineer by profession. Brother Kausar is a published writer and creator of the first Islamic community newsletter "Diversity". He is also the author of several dawah brochure publications that explain and increase awareness of the plight of Muslims around the world. Trustee - Mohammad Faizi
Mohammed Faizi is originally from Afghanistan and serves the Board with political and global knowledge as well as with his wisdom for building Islamic programs and sustaining relations amongst Muslims and non Muslims. His service to the Board has included work with the Islamic Center of Washington for enhancing educational and community programs. Brother Faizi is retired from the Afghan Military where he served as a high ranking leader. He is currently on sabbatical in Afghanistan.
Trustee - Husam Rabi
Husam Rabi joined the Board in June 2007. He lives, in Kent, Washington and is a well known Imam who has a degree in shariaa & Islamic studies from Jerusalem. Brother Husam has 2 degrees in engineering and is an engineer by profession. He has been making dawah (teaching Islam to non-Muslims) and has served on many committees. He has been involved with the Seattle Muslim community, the Idriss Mosque and the Kent Masijid for more than twenty years. He currently serves as Friday Imam for the Renton Masijid, in addition he has been teaching and managing an Islamic weekend school he established, in the Kent Masjid.
Trustee - Carolyna Bilal
Carolyna Bilal joined the Board in 2007. She is the Executive Educational Officer for the Islamic Center of Washington. Sister Carolyna holds a graduate and post graduate degree in Education and Administration from Seattle University, Seattle, Washington. She is a published children’s Islamic book writer and educator by profession. She serves the Board as an educational consultant and assistant legal representative. Sister Carolyna is originally from the Midwest and currently lives in Seattle, Washington.
Trustee - Eric Jones
Eric Jones joined the Board in 2007. He lives in Seattle, Washington and is an Attorney by profession. Brother Eric serves as an adviser to the Board regarding situations or circumstances involving community, public and justice matters. He assists the Board in crucial conversations, negotiations, mediations and achievement of resolutions. Bro Eric' efforts are dedicated to ensure fulfillment of the Idriss Mosque Trust for the community and to support the Board's mission, goals and commitment to the Trust mandate.
