SUMMARY:
This position’s responsibilities are to provide specialized services and support in day-to-day operations, of Idriss Mosque, five days per week. This is a salaried position requiring the individual selected, to be present in the mosque, during regular open hours as well as other scheduled times; i.e., special events, functions. Responsibilities also include enforcing mosque rules and regulations; ensuring the building evacuated and building alarm set after each activity, ensuring no persons admitted nor unscheduled activities allowed during closed times. Reports to the Idriss Mosque Administrator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Support the Islamic Center of Washington (ICW) and Idriss Mosque Board of Trustees
2.Make public announcements, when required
3.Greet and assist community members, visitors, guests
4.Assist in giving scheduled tours of Idriss Mosque
5.Open and close the mosque approximately one-half hour before and one-half hour after the five daily prayers
6.Open and close the mosque for special events/ functions as requested
7.Assist ICW Treasurer with the collection and verification of donations
8.Monitor parking lot, clear and remove (tow) illegally parked cars
9.Keep Islamic books, etc organized, in men’s and women’s prayer areas
10.Light cleaning if needed: vacuum, empty trash, keep building stairwells and lobby areas clear of equipment, change light bulbs, clean up spills, discard out of date flyers/papers
11. Monitor parking when building open ticket and record license plates of illegally parked vehicles,
12.Enforce and clarify mosque rules, regulations, policies with visitors and community members
13.Be present and available in mosque during services, events, functions
14.Ensure all unauthorized individuals exit mosque after services, events, functions
15.Ensure mosque secured, locked and alarmed after each service, event, function

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
*Must have personal phone and available for contact in case of emergency, twenty-four/ seven
* May require background check

10.Mosque maintenance and cleaning: vacuum, empty trash, keep building stairwells and lobby areas clear of equipment, change light bulbs, clean up spills, discard unusable dropped off items (clothes, furniture, equipment, etc), discard out of date flyers/papers, mop and clean tiled areas and restrooms, ensure parking lot, building grounds clean, do building repairs (replace wall tiles, touch up painting, repair door handles, locks, garbage disposal, sink, toilet leaks, etc)
11.Monitor parking when building open ticket and record license plates of illegally parked vehicles,
12.Enforce and clarify mosque rules, regulations, policies with visitors and community members
13.Be present and available in mosque during services, events, functions

Idriss Mosque Education Administrator
Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE SIGNATURE/TITLE


Position: Education Program Administrator

Reports to: Islamic Center of Washington via the Idriss Mosque Educational Officer and with input from the Islamic Education Advisory Council

Supervises: All educational program staff, volunteers, and students directly and indirectly.

Purpose: To serve as the administrator of the mosque educational programs in developing and implementing policies, curriculum, activities, budget, and credentialing in a manner that promotes the educational development of the Muslim community and the professional development of staff.

Essential Responsibilities:
Implement weekday preschool (3 to 6 years) and Sunday (K-8) activities that support age appropriate Islamic academic goals (Qur’an, Arabic, and Principles of Islam) and socialization skills.

Registration and collection of fees; purchasing of books and materials.

Evaluate student progress and ensure quality curricula are implemented consistently.

Provide guidance in how the program can meet standards of Early Childhood Education and possible [future] licensure. Help the ICW and staff take actions to prevent or correct violations in practice or safety that undermine the quality of the program.

Supervise and mentor teachers and oversee the recruitment and use of parent volunteers.

Substitute for teachers as needed on an emergent basis.

Spearhead fundraising efforts to create a legacy of high-quality Islamic education for the ICW.

Essential Qualifications:
Sufficient training in Islamic tenets and history (Qur’an, Sunnah, Fiqh, Seerah) to lead curriculum development in a multiethnic setting

Abiding love and respect for children, and ability to work with families from diverse heritages.

Basic computer literacy and word processing

Within three months of hire, will have completed CPR and First Aid certification and possess a valid Washington driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
Dynamic, organized, self-motivated, and creative problem solver

Excellent communication and teambuilding skill

Experience or interest in grant writing

Grade school level teaching experience or teacher’s certificate, training in early childhood education or experience working in youth programs

Supervisory experience

Oral and written Arabic language skills

Hours:
Sun-Thurs. 40 hours/week. Some flexibility required. 12 Paid vacation or sick days with no benefits. Sunday Program calendar is end of August through June except during Ramadan.

Pay:
$30,000 with annual review for salary increase of 3% a year.
